Asa Miller: A Teen Restoring Cuba’s Coral Reefs and Inspiring Global Action

In 2023, Asa Miller, a 17-year-old aspiring marine biologist from Hartsdale, New York, launched ¡Viva el Vivero! (Long Live the Nursery!), an international campaign to restore Cuba’s coral reefs. Motivated by his Cuban heritage and concern for the planet’s oceans, Miller connected directly with divers and scientists in Matanzas Province, Cuba, where coral loss has been devastating ecosystems.
